This needs to be addressed

I had a mini rant on Facebook this morning after reading this statement from Chick-fil-a.
Hey Fans. Another rumor related to Chick-fil-A that is currently in the media is related to the Jim Henson Kid's Meal prizes. We want to set the facts straight. Chick-fil-A made the choice to voluntarily withdraw the Jim Henson Kid's Meal puppets for potential safety concerns for our customers on Thursday, July 19. On July 20, Chick-fil-A was notified of the Jim Henson Company's decision to no longer partner with us on future endeavors.
This doesn't sound Kosher to me.

There was close to 4,000 comments of people saying how they support Mr. Cathy and how "brave" he is standing up for his beliefs. Here is my response that:

"I am super grossed out by the lame comments left on the Chick-fil-A fb page. "Thanks for standing up for traditional beliefs" Umm, wasn't it not long ago traditional beliefs were Black people had to use separate bathrooms and ride in the back of the bus? Closed minded people really piss me off. Don't preach hate in the name of religion, that's a major contradiction. The CEO has every right to feel how he feels. I totally hate douchebags, but I'm not out on the street handing out "I hate douchebags" flyers or donating to the Douchebags Suck Foundation. Keep your hate to yourself and stop taking the bible so literally, those dudes used to have like a hundred wives."

Am I crazy but doesn't it seem like an awful lot of Christians and Republicans *same thing, right?* really enjoy standing up for discrimination and bigotry in the name of the bible? How does gay people effect them?  If I choose not to live my life according to the bible, I'm somehow morally reprehensible? I made the choice to baptize our daughter in the Catholic faith but I don't judge you heathens that aren't Catholic *I kid!* Belief schmalief, some people believe beating the shit out of a child is good for them. Other folks believe that eating delicious bacon is the equivalent of tweezing their pubes. Really, who gives a shit what other people do? I am super bummed that Chick-fil-a has to be a major dickhead cause their chicken is crazy yummy and they just opened one close to my house in Hollywood! In & Out is a religious company but they don't have to openly Gay bash in the mosh pit for Jesus. Here's four simple words to fix all the world's problems....

My last thought on the subject...

What do you lovelies think of this issue? Are you boycotting?

Happy Happy Birthday Aimee!

Yesterday was my besties's birthday!

Aimee wanted chicken & waffles so we had to oblige. Usually we go to the one in Hollywood but there was too much traffic so we went to the one on Pico, you know, the one our President frequents. There must have been a billion photos of him in that joint, we get it, Barack loves yummy chicken & waffles. We ate ourselves into a stupor. Whatever they put in those delish waffles is addictive.

This big old nerd LOVES some Liberace!

We also got her a c-note gift card for Urban Outfitters

We drove past Sprinkles on the way home but there was a line so no cupcakes for the birthday girl *she was too full anyway* Olivia had us cracking up all day yesterday. I am so happy to have a funny kid. Happy Happy Birthday BFF!!!

Famous Olivia

I am grinning ear to ear after seeing this post at Ohdeedoh!! I love being featured on this site. I've been visiting it since I was preggers with Liv and have found so many awesome products and inspirational design ideas. I kinda wish the 5th photo was a better one cause my chalkboard sign was chopped off and Liv isn't looking at the camera.

I am recovering from another busy weekend. We went to Antz older brother's wedding and Sunday we took my Mom out to dinner for her birthday.

Hello there gut, not nice to see ya! *PS I am wearing Spanx*

I love his tie *such a hottie*

I look a thousand times better on Instagram

My bestie's birthday is Wednesday so I'm excited about that. I can't believe how fast July came and went. Summer always seems to zoom past me. I have lots on our list of things to do in August.

Balboa Fun Zone, Newport Beach. It was built in 1936, however, little is left of the original park. While the Ferris wheel and the merry-go-round remain as reminders of the park's past, you can also take harbor cruises and enjoy the arcades on the boardwalk.Ride the ferris wheel at Balboa Island

Hopefully Antz can play hooky from work so we can go to the beach

September will be here before we know it and Liv will be going to school :(

The Master

This is the title of the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, The Master. I love me some PT Anderson *betcha didn't know he's Maya Rudolph's baby's daddy* but with all of his films there's always pros and cons involved. My first issue is with that title. He originally wanted to call it The Cause but that somehow was too directly hinting that this is a major Scientology diss flick. So changing it to The Master straightens that all out.  With this name, I am constantly envisioning a slave revenge Blaxploitation film *oh, Quentin already took Django Unchained, darn!* So now Paul has pissed off Tommy Girl *aka  HBIC Tom Cruise* because nobody makes a mockery of the greatest religion ever, cough, invented.
I love it when Tommy gets angry, he's like a wild-eyed, overly serious leprechaun. Beware the wrath of Tommy Girl, he'll call your ass glib and give zero fucks about it.

Examples:

Remember Tommy Girl vs Brooke Shields and then Tommy Girl vs Matt Lauer? Escalando!

But I'll tell you something, that boy was AMAZING in Magnolia. He totally should have won an Oscar for that role because when he said "Respect the Cock and Tame the Cunt", I was a believer!! I immediately threw out my meds and fired my therapist and my ass gave him a standing ovation at the theater when I saw it a billion years ago in 1999. Say what you want about him and Xenu, he can act his tiny ass off. Or it could just be the brilliant writing of PT Anderson.

Magnolia

Oh well, I'm drawn to movies involving controversy. A Clockwork Orange, Lolita, Battle Royale, all incredible movies that were at some point were banned. So far PT has never let me down, I even liked Punch-Drunk Love. It's an underrated film with Adam Sandler trying his best to imitate Jim Carrey's performance in The Truman Show. You know, the funny man can also be a serious Thespian despite a sucessful career based on fart jokes.  Back to The Master...guess who took a bath and let the silver fox grow out on his head? Cray cray banay-nays Joaquin Phoenix! This fool thinks he is the new Daniel Day Lewis. Not uh! He may twerk it in M. Night Shyamalan's horrible films but I don't know how well he can handle a role like this in a film of this caliber. I also am bummed the best they could come up with for a supporting lady role is Amy Adams. She was alright in The Fighter but whenever I look at her I think of that movie where she was a Disney princess who got lost in Harlem or whatever the hell it was. I always see cartoon birds fly by her face and it ruins the mood. Why not Tilda? Tilda is awesome and a glorious ginger!

  Tilda Swinton
Now the pros: Phillip Seymour Hoffman. God, I love this man. He had me at...

Boogie Nights

That's all it took, he could co-star in Madea's Family Reunion at Big Mamma's House so Are We There Yet? Part 3 and I'll still love him. I'm all about Jonny Greenwood *from Radiohead* doing the movie's score. I am a huge movie soundtrack nerd and I loved There Will Be Blood soundtrack.

Oh! what is my all-time top 3 movie soundtracks you ask? *okay I know you didn't* but I adore these 3, they are super awesome and moody-sounding if you are looking for something a bit deeper than Nicky Minaj.

The Original Motion Picture Score Magnolia composed by Jon Brion

Oh my Gawd, I listen to this like, daily, it's so beautiful! It's kinda my melancholy playlist, you know when you want to feel depressed in a good way. Like listening to the Smiths or Adele.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford composed by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis

Again, simply beautiful. I am not a Western fan at all but somehow I was drawn to this movie *could have been Brad & Casey* One night we heard a few songs on the movie soundtrack music channel on Directv and I fell in love with the score. It's freaking Nick Cave, sheesh!

Amelie Soundtrack composed by Yann Tiersen

It's so very obvious why I love this guy, Parisian and such a wonderful usage of instruments; accordian, harpsichord, banjo, bass guitar, and vibraphone. It's my cheery, happy tunes playlist.

Anyway, back to The Master. I love the balls on Paul Thomas. He's finally gonna say what we've all been thinking about Sciento-looneys. I'm all for tax sheltering your dough but dude, I heard Nancy Cartwright donated 10 million to them. Uhh, that is completely ridic! Those Scientologists are some true pimps. The trailer looks pretty sweet. I'm so excited to see a really good movie *like Moonrise Kingdom* You can check it out here. The only thing that sucks is I have to wear a bulletproof vest anywhere I go now cause fools are crazy. So sad about those horrific deaths and injuries in Colorado. Can't even go to a midnight movie these days.

Here's all the Paul Thomas Anderson films you should add to your Netflix queue if you haven't seen them already.

Hard Eight
Boogie Nights
Magnolia
Punch-Drunk Love
There Will Be Blood

I finally got The Artist in the mail today. I hope it lives up to the high expectation cause there's only one "silent" film I love and that would be The Triplets of Belleville.

My guide to Love & Marriage

One Month!

August 18, 2002
That's right, exactly one month until our 10 year wedding anniversary. I am at a complete loss of plans to celebrate such a milestone. I mean, we've been together for 16 years total and we've been in this house for 6 years, parents for 2 years...okay enough math. It's been a fabulous time. We have traveled, been to amazing concerts, been on a game show together, we pretty much have grown up together.

I had one bite of our wedding cake, too excited to eat at the reception and the slices the staff packed for us for the next day were devoured by ants! Note to anyone getting married...EAT AT YOUR WEDDING! You pay a fortune for that meal, eat it and savor every bite.

Ten years of marriage isn't a piece of cake although most days feels cakier than others. We still have dumb spats, I huff and puff and fold my arms when I'm having a brat-attack and he rolls his eyes at my wild schemes, but I still get butterflies in my stomach when that boy kisses me. You know how I knew I would marry Anthony? On our first date, we both brought friends as backup *cause that's how I rolled when I was 19* our first kiss was pretty awkward since we were leaving a packed movie theater at Universal Citywalk and our friends were standing right there. Antz kissed me so sweetly and gently like no one else was there. It was so lovely, I literally swooned. My gut was screaming at me, this guy is THE ONE! We've been pretty much inseparable ever since. So how do you not get bored or drive each other crazy?...hmmm, we do! All the time, but we have 3 things going in our favor that make it work.

1. We talk about our feelings. This is crucial to making any relationship work. I am a huge talker *aka Major Chatterbox* Antz, not so much, but being able to discuss our feelings and leave out the expectations takes a lot of guess work out of our marriage. I used to think to myself, I wish he would just....but then I realized, he's not a psychic. Why wouldn't I just tell him what I wanted rather than just expect him to magically know what I want. I was pretty much sabotaging our relationship because I didn't communicate. Now we talk it out, our feelings, our dreams, our annoyances, nothing is off-limits. I have a clear understanding of his wishes and I know when I need to improve my 'tude. I think our communication brings us closer, we don't keep secrets and we're honest with one another. Pretty simple, right. Well here's the tricky part, a huge component to the communication thing involves listening. Oh yeah, it's easy to blah, blah, blah... but to really listen to your partner and let them know you hear them and understand is the key.

2. Don't be too cool to be a dork. Antz and I are super immature *most of the time*. We have a pact to always be silly, approach life with a sense of humor and never act our age. We laugh so hard we cry. We make fun of each other in a playful way. We say to each other, it must be such a bummer to have to be an adult all the time. We don't take each other too serious and we have each other's back. We have no problem geeking out at Disneyland or busting out the robot on the dancefloor. In the the immortal words of the Joker "Why so serious?"

3. We are compatible. I know Paula Abdul & MC Skat Kat say opposites attract but oil and water will never mix. Try to find someone you would be very good friends with outside of your relationship. Why make things difficult by trying to convert someone into the person you want them to be? I love Antz because he's true to himself. He's a talented, crazy awesome artist. I grew up with my artist Mommy *she's a crazy talented musician* so I'm used to being around creative people. He's not a huge sports fan so I don't have to bitch and moan about how lame sports are. He's totally down with my Björk obsession and goes along with all my absurd ideas. He both hate onions and douchebags and share a love of people-watching and Jeopardy. I never understand why people get married quickly and then discover, "WAIT! We have absolutely nothing in common!" Duh! There's a good reason we dated for 6 years before getting engaged. We needed to get to know each other, figure out our idiosyncrasies. I know some folks have lasting, solid marriages after months of dating *looking at you Khloe Kardashian* but most folks aren't so lucky . Find out if you love the person you want to spend you old folks days with, even with their flaws *Antz loves air-conditioning and I'm always freezing to death* It does take compromise but the entire relationship shouldn't be about compromising who you are. If you can't be around your guy without makeup on and he's afraid to fart around you...uh, that's lame.

Being married to Antz has been extraordinary. We have fun everyday. We trust each other 100% and to me, that is love. I gave him my heart on August 18th and he has protected it for 10 years. As much as I complain about not going to Hawaii for our anniversary, we could go to Taco Bell and still have an incredible time. So don't be surprised if we toast our big day in the drive-thru, Hawaii isn't going anywhere and Liv's tuition is more important to us.
