No, I haven't fallen down a well

My laptop is on it's deathbed. I am trying *in vain* to salvage my files before it kicks the bucket. It's crashed so many times I am sure it's a goner. I am borrowing Antz laptop at the moment so I'll be on a short hiatus until I get a new laptop...considering the new Mac Air but I'd have to buy Mac software which is bumming me out. Every 4 years my computers seem to die. I have no idea what happened but if I lose my photos, I will be pissed! :(
