I'm up to my ears in Birthdays!!

Not only is my b-day extravaganza in a few weeks, but I have just 3 months before Olivia turns 2. How crazy is that?

Just kidding, Antz did this one on his phone
She's 21 months going on 21 YEARS!!
2 Years old! An official toddler *even though she began toddling at 11 months* so I was planning a weekend vacation in my old stomping grounds of Palm Springs at the lovely Ace hotel. Now we're going for a day trip to PS to ride the ariel tram

Antz & I went before we were married and it is a scary ride but breathtaking views
We will hike *in 100 degree weather, fun!* and go to dinner. So Antz & I decided to not spend too much in an effort to somehow try to get our asses to Hawaii for our 10 year anniversary in August. I mean, you only have one 10 year anniversary *most couples don't make it that long, in Hollywood anyways* so it's cause for celebration. I honestly feel like the last person on the planet who hasn't been to Hawaii. It's right there...in the US. What's my problem? I will fly a paper airplane to get there *I really wouldn't, I am very particular about airlines I fly* I guess I could explore other options than the Aulani Resort *an ocean view standard room is $1700 for 4 nights* but anywhere else that is 4 stars will be just as expensive. I am by no means a Disney lover, I just figure this is Liv's vacation too so why not stay at a child friendly resort with amenities she will enjoy too. There is a lagoon, a kids clubhouse, and of course photos with Mick & the gang. I like that it's new and gorgeous.

I am not trying to be a snob *yes I am* but I'm over my days of staying at the Motel 6. Budget travel is not my idea of a vacation *ever since we got scabies* I need room service, a spa and a bathroom that I never want to leave. I even thought of just going for 3 days to save costs but our anniversary is on Saturday so of course a Friday through Sunday stay is still pricey. I dunno, its still to far from August to find any deals on airfare. I wish they didn't close the W Honolulu, that really blows.

However on the positive side, the W Paris opened on February 29th

I am able to check rates for April, they are offering 30% off rooms for Starwood members so that rocks. The bad news is I am having terrible luck finding flights from Paris to Helsinki *to visit my lovely Aura* The fares are almost $700 and the flights all return close to midnight. I want to get a good night's rest so we can go to Disneyland Paris the following day. Maybe I'll move the itinerary around so that we visit Aura and then fly home from Helsinki but that may put us on Lufthansa and I want to get the low airfare with British Airways. Sheesh, I feel like a travel agent. I need to get dressed for my date with Aimee. She is having her bathroom renovated and now she has her eye on an upstairs apartment that I need to see.

Birthday Gift options

Are a'plenty! I am dying for this camera iphone case. It's making me crazy. There are 3 detachable lenses and can attach to a tripod.

Aimee asked me what I wanted but she hooks me up every year with a gift card at Anthro so I'm covered to get this sweet cardigan I've had my eye on.

Now I am obsessed with getting tatted by TATTLY

Super duper cute! So many choices of rad things. I also think it's cruel and unfair that this amazing bag is sold out.

It's seriously adorable and needs to belong to me. MaƱana I am having my date with the Bestie, we're going makeup shopping which will be stellar. I get so excited over makeup, it's sickening.

Sprinkles ATM

Wellsy, we headed down to Bev Hills to check out Sprinkles debut of their 24 hour cupcake ATM. First stop was the new pedestrian walk in Silver Lake. The city painted these adorable dots over the weekend and I am hoping HP gets a cute little nook like this.

The Polka Dot Plaza
iPhone is not jump friendly
I'm totally wearing my jammies

The line behind me after just 10 minutes. Am I the only person who gets annoyed that every passing person had to ask me, "Is this the line for the cupcakes?" DUH!! *I'm such a mean old bitch*
I didn't try the Irish cream cupcake for Saint Pattys
Finally, I made it to the front of the line!! *She wore a raspberry beret!*
There was a Sprinkles song that would play but I don't think you can hear it in my video

Can't wait to try Sprinkles ice-cream
We figured there would be a line but this guy was long. It must have been the coldest night of 2012 cause I was freezing my ass off. Antz stayed in the car with Olivia while she slept but we texted each other during the hour and ten minute wait, you heard me...70 minutes for a lousy cupcake. Well, let me say, TOTALLY WORTH IT! It was the first night so everyone wanted to try it out. The machine broke 5 times while I was in line but there were workers inside to fix it. To my great displeasure I was sandwiched between 2 sets of equally annoying college girls so I was tortured subjected to the lame blah, blah, blah, 20 year old discussion in that nasal, whiney voice that sounds like nails on a chalkboard. I was lucky to have Antz to talk to via text, he kept me laughing to myself like a crazy person, it was like he was reading my mind. By the time I got to the window, he came out and filmed my transaction. I thought there would be more flavors available *being that they stock 600 cupcakes a day* but I ended up with 2 red velvet and a dark chocolate. I was sort of bummed that vanilla was sold out but I'm sure that's the most popular flavor. There was one vanilla milk chocolate left but as you can see in the video, the robot couldn't reach it. I really felt pressured to hurry since the line was so long and everyone instantly hated who ever was at the front of the line. Sprinkles could make maggot cupcakes and I'd still eat them. There must but crack in them because they are so addicting. Perfectly moist,  just the right amount of icing and it smelled delightful. Be warned, the ATM is 50 cents more *$4 bucks* and you can only order one cupcake per transaction. I can't be certain the long lines will die down due to the close vicinity to UCLA and Hollywood late night crowds. I tell you one thing, Sprinkles sure are evil geniuses making cupcakes accessible 24 hours. Way to go playing to the fat girls weakness!!!

unHappy Anniversary

Yep, today is our HOUSE's 6 year anniversary.

March 6, 2006, Two bright-eyed, youngsters *Antz has short hair then!*

Super excited to get our paint on. It took us 4 days to get rid of that horrendous red!

We had to cut this cabinet to fit our enormous fridge

The extent of our furniture

That awful, cheap vanity
You know how you are forced to *act like you give a shit* and sing Happy birthday to co-workers? That unenthusiastic, slow rendition of "Happy burrthday to youuuu" where you get shitty grocery store sheet cake and cheap juice. Well insert Anniversary and add a big fat NOT in front of happy and you got me rolling my eyes, and folding my arms. We have lived in this house for SIX years and the first email I get this morning is from Zillow informing me that our Zestimate has decreased from $352,000 to $311,200!! As much as Highland Park is getting all these new awesome business opening in the neighborhood, dozens of houses are being flipped like pancakes and HUNDREDS of Hipsters are riding our new bike lane on York, you would think I could see a little appreciation in my home.

The good news just kept pouring in, my darling Antz got a ticket *his first in like 8 years* on his way to work for driving through a stop sign and, you remember my lovely Anthropologie quilt?

Yay for this?
I know I only paid a measly $85 but this quilt that usually costs $298 so you would think the stitching would be better quality. Unless the dry cleaners used some unholy nuclear shit to it and ruined it *as I predicted* Antz Mom can probably talk me through repairing it. Sigh. All in all, today can suck it. Sheesh March, didn't you get the memo? You are supposed to be my happy happy, rad birthday month!

Here's a creepy video to hopefully give you a chuckle, I sure could use a laugh. The Cheeto Queen herself....Brit Brit!

The Wonderful World of Breastfeeding

Well, I kinda promised this post for Friday but I couldn't get it done in time but such is life and here it is, better late than never, right? So I have some lovely friends and family who will be welcoming a little bebe this year so I wanted to give them my perspective of breastfeeding. *disclaimer: there will be no actual boobs featured in this post* Olivia and I have made it to the 21 month mark. Whoo-hoo!

Liv, seconds old and we're already best friends
"I'd like to to accept this platinum booby award and thank my darling daughter for helping me make this experience pleasant and rewarding."

Let me not sugar coat it, breastfeeding is difficult, at first. In the beginning it's on par with a dentist visit and a pap smear all in one. Uncomfortable but necessary. The best way to start is to research before bebe comes along. You should weigh the pros and cons of how you choose to feed your child. If you know you will be returning to work soon after delivery, you need to find out if you can pump at work. You definitely should attend a breastfeeding class *most often offered by your hospital*
you can also check out :

The Pump Station in Hollywood or Santa Monica
There's also La Leche League which I hear is a delightful source

Try not to be squeamish when you think about the latch process, it's not as bad is you think. The most important thing to know is BE COMFORTABLE!! My postpartum nurse was so amazing because she showed me how to bf laying down since I was tired. I was mostly grossed out by that feeling like a cow scenario I had in my head. All in all, the second Olivia was born my doctor put her directly on my chest and we tried to get her to breastfeed immediately. There's nothing like that first second bond. You become oblivious to the pain and you think I will die for this child, dramatic but true. She totally melted my heart *like Twilight imprinting* She didn't latch right away but I tried a few minutes later and she did. Bring your bebe to you, not your boob to the bebe *this is where a Boppy comes to the rescue*. The first few days of bfing the baby isn't getting much milk cause you have this clear fluid called colostrum. Another tip my nurse gave me is don't worry that you might suffocate your bebe with your boobs. I was so worried she couldn't breathe but if your bebe can't breathe, she will turn her head, its  an instinct. It will panic you cause you will feel like you are starving your child but by day 3 you will wake up and notice Pamela Anderson has taken over your torso. The word is engorgement. It hurts, you leak but it's the best time to try out your breast pump. Take a hot shower to help open your ducts. I pumped a measly 2 ounces the first time because I was afraid to pump. By that night, I was a pro, all you think is I must get this gallon of milk out of me! It was wonderful to have a few bottles ready for Antz to give Liv so I could get some rest during the night and early morning. I bought a Medula Harmony manual pump. It's super easy to use and affordable.

Bfing Liv at home for the first time
Antz was an expert at bottle feeding
Most common occurrence from breastfeeding...it's called The ITIS
Olivia latched like a pro. She made it very easy for me to fall in love with bfing. This is the most tricky part of breastfeeding, getting your bebe to latch but it will happen if you keep at it. I have breastfed Olivia everyday since she was born and it has been fantastic. I can't give you any formula advice because I have never bought any. My kid has not been sick *other than a couple of runny noses* and she has only spit up once. I must have overfed her cause it was the only time she ever threw up.

Barf face
One thing I forgot to mention. I'm sure your ob/gyn has already told you to take prenatal vitamins. I found a great brand that is smaller than other pills and doesn't upset your stomach.

Nature's Bounty Pre-Natal Multivitamin Tabs, 100 ct (Quantity of 3)
Nature's Bounty *I buy mine in a 3 pack from Amazon* which of course I am still taking since I'm still breastfeeding.

Liv began to eat solids when our pediatrician *find a one you really love because this is going to be the person you trust your child's health care to for the next 18 years, go with your gut* gave us the go-ahead at 6 months and she started drinking organic whole milk at 7 months. In the last 3 months Liv mostly bfs at night *it's kind of my secret for getting her to sleep through the night* but she does occasionally wake in the middle of the night to nurse. My "loose" plan is to continue until she turns 2 or she chooses to stop.

This blog has been incredibly helpful to me and I love her bebewearing advocacy.

Marvelous Kiddo

Buy a good babywrap! Your bebe wants to feel wrapped tight, warm and snugly next you as much as possible *it reminds them of being cozy in the womb* It also gives you a hands free break so you can move around comfortable and freely. So Mommies & Daddies wear your baby as often as you can because before you know it, they will be off and running away from you!!

I adore nursing. It has been incredible *I'll be sad when she stops* but I highly recommend it to any new Mommies *even if just the first few months* there are so many benefits to Mom and bebe. I am by no means an expert, I'm only sharing my own experience and insight.

Please ask me anything below. Best of luck!!
